Do not eat from the carton or box. You have no idea how much you're actually eating if you do this.  Instead, put a portion of the food on a plate or in a bowl.  You're less likely to continue eating once the portion is finished.

Be A Spider Or An Ant!

I am in the process of doing some major cleaning.  You see, my husband and I are going on vacation in a couple of weeks, and we're having a dog-sitter stay with our dogs. Since there will be a strange person staying in our home, I want to be sure it is absolutely spotless.

As I cleaned the spider webs from Florida room, I marveled at their persistence.  I can dust the spider webs from the corners of the windows, and the next day, there they are again.  And for every spider I manage to kill, at least two take its place.

And think about ants. This is shaping up to be a banner year for the ant population in our neighborhood.  There are hundreds of anthills on the sidewalks, streets and driveways.  No matter how many rains wash them away, how often car and bicycle tires run them over or how many people step on them, the ants just build them again and again. They toil through the days and nights building and rebuilding and doing what they need to do to reach their goal.  Now that's persistence.

Why do you suppose spiders and ants manage to be so persistent, yet people tend to give up so easily?  Maybe it's because spiders and ants are driven by instinct rather than thought.  And the ability to think, while a wonderful thing, can also be a detriment to us.  When you change your mind about what can happen for you, you can make it happen for you. The difference between living your life and living your life greatly is persistence.  So, when you've tried something for the umpteenth time and feel there's just no sense trying it again, remember the words of Calvin Coolidge:

Nothing in the world can take the place of Persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan 'Press On' has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race.

~~Weekly Challenge~~
Think about something you're trying to accomplish and do the following:

.  When you think about quitting, stop and think how your life will turn out if you give up. .  Imagine a successful outcome for yourself.  Visualize and feel it.  .  When negativity creeps in, remind yourself that the negative thoughts are habits not truths.

.  At least twice each day, look in the mirror and, out loud, tell yourself  "You are the best", "I knew I could do this", and any other reinforcing statements that support your efforts and abilities.

Good Luck!
