Live Like You Were Dying!
A few weeks ago, my
husband and I got word that a dear friend of the family had just been diagnosed with cancer. That evening, as I got in my car and turned on the radio, the first song I heard was by Tim McGraw about a man who learns he's
dying:
"Like tomorrow was a gift
And you got eternity to think about what you do with it
What should you do with it
What can I do with it
What would I do with it
I went skydiving, I went rocky mountain climbing
I went 2.7 seconds on a bull named Fu Man Chu
And I loved deeper and I spoke sweeter
And I gave forgiveness I'd been denying
And he said someday I hope you get the chance
To live like you were dyin'"
We've heard the directive to live like this is the first day of your life, but isn't that what most of us already do? We
act as if we have all the time in the world to do the things we really want to do, so we put things off. We prioritize life putting what we think we MUST do first and letting things that would feed our souls slip
to the bottom of the list.
Wouldn't we all be better off if we lived each day like it was our last? We could "love deeper" and "speak sweeter" and "give forgiveness we've been denying". Think of how
much more we'd appreciate those around us and how much better they would feel.
We could go "skydiving or rocky mountain climbing" or whatever it is that we know in our hearts we really want to do. We could start
really living life so that it's meaningful to us – not meaningful to someone else.
Remember not to count your days by the number of breaths that you take. Instead count your days by the number of moments
that take your breath away!
~~Weekly Challenge~~
Make a list of at least 10 things that you want to do before you die. They can be big or small, it doesn't matter – as long as they matter to you. Put
each on a separate slip of paper, fold the slips in half and put them in a jar. Now pick one slip from the jar and get started on it. My special offer at the top of this E-zine can help you.
Good Luck!

As promised, here are some of the mantras my readers shared:
· I'm doing the right thing.
· There is a Plan, and I'm led by it.
· I will do the thing I think I cannot do.
· If we're facing in the right direction, we just have to keep walking.
· I am strong. I am powerful. I am confident.
· I am a leader.
· I can succeed... just take my time and go step by step. Forget about
pressures others impose on me out of their own discomfort.
· I have a valuable combination of talents and attributes.
· When you come to the edge of darkness, step off and believe that you will be taught to fly.
· Life is a mystery to be lived not a riddle to be solved.
· People are doing the best they can.
· I can do this.
· I am good enough. I am smart enough. I am enough.
· This too shall pass.
· Face the fear and keep on going.
· Take things one day at a time.
· This will be a good day because I will make it that way.
