Build Your Day Word By Word

I woke up this morning on the wrong side of the bed, thinking it was going to be an awful day.  Then I looked at my reflection in the mirror and told myself to smile, and I did.

I went into the kitchen and looked at the mess someone left on the counter…again. As I angrily cleaned the mess I told myself to be calm, and I was.

I exchanged harsh words with a sales person at the store when I tried to return an item.  Then I took a deep breath and told myself she was doing the best she could.  I believed it, and I felt better.

I frittered away my time today instead of working and then felt worthless because I let things slide.  Before I could beat myself up, I told myself it would be all right and I would finish the work tomorrow.  I knew it was true and it eased my mind.

I sat in the yard and looked up at the blue sky.  The birds were chirping and the breeze was light.  I told myself to be peaceful, and I was.

Finding the right words to say isn't always about helping someone else.  Sometimes it's about helping the most important person in your life – you!  Watch what you say to yourself because you are building your day word by word. So choose your words very carefully.  They make all the difference in how your day goes.

~~~ Weekly Challenge ~~~

Be conscious of what you say and think to yourself.  When negativity creeps in, visualize a police officer holding up a stop sign.  Interrupt the negative thought and replace it with something positive.

Remember -- Today is a good day.  Today is your life!
