Chained Elephants

Do you know how humans control elephants?  Since humans are much smaller and weaker than elephants, one would think it might not be possible – yet, if you've ever been to the circus, you know it's true.

When the elephant is a baby, one end of a piece of rope is tied to it's foot and the other to a peg in the ground. In the beginning it tries to free itself. The baby elephant pulls and pulls, but it can't pull the peg out or break the rope.  After much trying, it finally gives up and never tries again. 

When the elephant grows much larger and stronger and can easily snap a chain or pull its peg from the ground and run free, it does nothing because it has been conditioned not to be free, not to try anything different.

In what ways are you like that chained elephant?  Have you been conditioned to stay put in your life – to not try to move forward?  Are you chained by your own thoughts and beliefs?  Have you given up struggling because it's just too hard and you'll never break free?  If your life isn't the way you want it to be and you're tired of being a chained elephant, take advantage of a

~~~ Weekly Challenge ~~~

· Set aside about 30 minutes today and think about at least one thing that you've always wanted to do but have been afraid to try or have put off starting.

· Put it in writing and underneath list all of the reasons why you can't or won't do it.

· Then realize that each of these reasons is a link in the chain that keeps you stuck.
