Cindy, Your E-zine is so amazing. It came to me when I needed it the very most. I  know I have said this in the past, but it bears repeating: I cannot thank you enough. Everything you send reaches me when I need it the most.

Thank you for all the encouragement and all the great coaching.

Sincerley, Ericka M. Dawydko

Hypnosis

 Myth and Reality

The hypnosis most of us are familiar with is called "stage hypnosis" -- where the hypnotist takes volunteers from the audience and has them do silly things to entertain the audience -- for example suggesting the volunteers quack like ducks.  Based on this, people have formed all kinds of misconceptions about hypnosis, so let me bust the myths right now!

Myth - Hypnosis is a mysterious experience.

Fact - Hypnosis is a natural state of mind.  You have already experienced it hundreds of times like when you're lost in a good book or staring into space and daydreaming.

Myth - Hypnosis is not safe.

Fact - Hypnosis is painless, non-invasive, and uses no drugs.  The American Medical Association and the Catholic Church both recognize hypnosis as a safe therapeutic tool.

Myth - Hypnosis is like being asleep.

Fact - You may appear to be asleep because you're so relaxed, but you are still aware of your surroundings and hear every word your hypnotist says to you.

Myth - I might go too deep into hypnosis.

Fact - The deeper you go, the better hypnosis feels.  And you can't get stuck in hypnosis.  If the hypnotist left the room while you were hypnotized, you would either go to sleep or get up and leave.

Myth - Strong-willed people cannot be hypnotized.

Fact - Strong-willed people have a "can do" attitude which is magnified under hypnosis, so their focus is stronger and their goals are reached more quickly.

Myth - I'll act silly or say things I'll regret.

Fact - When in hypnosis, YOU are in control.  You cannot be forced to say or do anything under hypnosis that is against your will or that violates your moral standards.

Myth - Hypnosis cures illness.

Fact - Research has shown that hypnosis strengthens the natural healing process.  It works well in conjunction with traditional medicine and can reduce the need for medications and shorten the healing time. But hypnosis itself does not cure illness.

Myth - Everyone responds to hypnosis in the same way.

Fact - Just like prescription medications don't work the same for everyone, hypnosis doesn't provide the same results for everyone.  Some people get immediate relief, and others require multiple sessions.

In an effort to reduce the many emails I receive selling me things I don't need and offering special medications to help me enlarge body parts that I don't have, I am deleting the @ sign when I show my email address on my webpages and using AT instead.  Please  note when you send me an email you must still use @ and not AT.
